On a fun-filled camping trip, after a long day of excitement and exertion, you need a good night’s rest. This is when the camping air mattress is of utmost importance.

Those who have been on frequent camping trips will understand the perils of sleeping on an uncomfortable mattress during such an outing. A bad mattress will not just ruin your night’s rest but can also dampen your spirits on the trip by causing a back ache or body aches due to an incorrect sleeping posture.

There are some factors that should be considered while selecting an air mattress for the most comfortable possible vacation like:

1. You should select an air mattress that feels closest to your own bed back home. A mattress with a texture and material that is closest to the bed would certainly prove to be most suitable. Draw parallels between the mattress and your bedding. If you use a pillow case back home, select a mattress that allows for it.

2. Firmness of the mattress is yet another factor that should be considered prior to buying a particular air mattress. The best measure on this occasion is your own bed.

Check the firmness of the bed and buy the mattress that has almost the same firmness. If you are not able to visit an outlet to check your air mattress and want to buy it online, read consumer reviews for specific mattresses and comments on their firmness, quality and texture. This would give you an overall idea of the suitability of the air mattress.

3. Yet another problem that you might face while camping is an air-mattress with a pump that is cumbersome to carry or use. It is therefore important that you conduct some research on the pump that accompanies your air mattress and also the durability of the mattress’ texture as nothing could be worse than trying to sleep on an air mattress which is fast losing air.

4. Sometimes, getting up from a standard air mattress that is very close to the ground can be a tiresome experience as it makes it uncomfortable to wear your shoes and slippers and get out of bed at the same time. If you select a mattress that is at least a foot above the ground, which most mattresses today are, you will find that it eliminates this problem.

5. Sleeping on an exact-size air mattress will give you very little space to shift about or keep important items like flashlight or eyeglasses handy. It is advisable to select a mattress that is at least a size bigger.
